She returned with two maidens and arms for them both. Then Gwydion said that she should arm the boy herself, so that she would break the destiny upon her son. And she armed him at all points. When the arming was completed, they went and defended the caer as best they could. And through the valour of Gwydion and Lleu Llaw Gyffes the force was unable to land on the caer, and was driven away. And Gwydion came to Aranrhod in his armour, and then she recognized him and was angry that he had deceived her again, even though they had fought bravely in her service. And she swore upon the lad a further destiny, that he would never have a wife of their own race in the land. But Gwydion swore that Lleu should have a wife all the same, and that he should take one of the maidens of the forest, from among the ancient people.
